Anansi is a very popular and important figure in West African folklore. There are many stories about him. He is usually depicted as a spider - he is wise and clever, but he is also a trickster who uses his abilities against more powerful opponents.

The beautiful illustrations for 'Anansi and the Mango Tree' have been done by Edyta Karaban - a wonderfully talented illustrator from Wroclaw, Poland.
In this story, Anansi sees some delicious mangoes growing on a tree. Anansi wants to eat some of the mangoes, but the tree belongs to Tiger, and Tiger doesn't want to share.
Anansi has a clever idea, and he plays a trick on Tiger.
